I only ask because my father grew up there, and I have several cousins that could be a Napolean twin...or at least a relative.
Plus Hess? OMG Jeshua....we might be cousins. Except our family is actually in the Bear Lake side of Idaho. I guess your dad married a girl from Riverdale or something.

Re: Is anyone here actually from Preston?
Sat, June 10, 2006 - 10:27 AMWell I lived in Lewiston and Richmond both about 5 miles south of Preston, so for years I did all my shopping and a lot of pool playing there. I know about half of the extras in the movie and I caught my daughter buying beer at La Tienda. I bought many a trinket at that DI (Deseret Industries) where Napolean bought the dance video! What is so funny is that it is soooo typical of the area and culture clash between the Mormons and Hispanics and the lost. There are a lot of floating ....inbetweens..I call them. Can't take the church crap and fear the Catholic immigrants who work the dairy farms, mink and fox fur farms, meat packing plant or chicken farms. I ate a burger at the burger barn..which is Jeds Burger Barn in Richmond. Hung out at Riverdale Hotsprings for years. Fished Oneida Damn, and the Bear and Cub Rivers. Yep, it's home to me. Funny flick and I watch it over and over. -

Re: Is anyone here actually from Preston?
Tue, June 13, 2006 - 7:11 PMI am planning a homage back to Idaho in July. I will start in Bear Lake County where my mother grew up and go over the canyon from Paris to Riverdale, then to Preston. It was called Immigration Canyon in the 1800's.
My father grew up in that area. There were only two families in the Winder Ward back then. Both original families were my relatives. Brigham Young sent them there. A Scotsman and a Norwegian. What a combination. They built an incredible brood.
I am the second combination of Scots and Norwegians, plus the German/Irish/Welch my dad married from Bear Lake County.
If I was a Dog, I would be a mutt. Since I am Human I am Scots/norge/german/irish/welch
Mutt-Human.

Re: Is anyone here actually from Preston?
Tue, June 13, 2006 - 10:51 PMTater Tots was a communist plot created by J.R. Simplot over in the next big valley.....over around Rexburg. That is where all my demented cousins lived. They all grew up on re-processed, and proccessed potatoes.
Those sneeky little potato turds creeped their way down to South Jordon where I grew up. We all threw them away so that they could be sent to the Butterfield pig farm in Herriman.
All is fair in love, pigs, and tater tot war.
